Research Projects
NoAH (Nexus of Autonomous Hardware) Project
AdAM (Adaptive Architecture Methodology) Project
This project aims to establish hardware systems as high-speed evolutionary systems.
A simulation program for this system is in operation on super computer CM5.
In 1996, Progressive Evolution Model was proposed in collaboration with NTT Human Interface Laboratories.
Experiments with an artificial ant-feeding problem proved the effectiveness of this method.
To understand the results quickly, an visualization tool was also created.
This system uses an HDL (Hardware Description Language), and PGAs (production genetic algorithms) which have been previously proposed.
Investigations so far have proved the effectiveness of this methodology for acquiring high-level functionarity and behavior.
However, the current system has one weekness in that compilation is slow.
In 1996, a new high-level HDL was designed to overcome this flaw.
This new HDL will considerably advance the real-time hardware evolution.
