- Abstract
Various negotiation schemes for connection establishment have
been proposed. These negotiation schemes can maximize total user's benefit and
network's profit by adjusting the resource prices based on the demand and
utilization level of the resources. When there exist several networks, each
user's benefit can be maximized and each network's profit can be balanced
using similar pricing mechanism. However, cooperative price adjustment cannot
be expected in case where several network providers compete with each other.
In this paper, a new negotiation scheme for connection establishment is
proposed. This negotiation scheme can be applicable to the case where several
network providers compete with each other. This scheme enables mutual
selection by users and network providers using the concept of open competitive
bidding, and can improve each network provider's profit considerably in
addition to each user's benefit. In this scheme, each network's utilization
level can be balanced without the cooperative price adjustment by informing
each user of the present network's utilization level directly. This paper also
evaluates the effectiveness of this proposed negotiation scheme using the
computer simulation.
