My research

My current research examines early language development (especially, noun and verb learning, vocabulary spurt, syntactic bootstrapping, word order, infant-directed speech, etc.) through the use of infant experiments (eye-tracking, habituation paradigm and IPLP), longitudinal diary data, and cross-sectional large-scale CDI data. I am also thinking about evidence-based support for parenting and early education using ICT technology. See here.

About me

I am currently a Principal Investigator (distinguished researcher) in NTT Communication Science Laboratories at Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation. I'm working with Drs. Yuriko Oshima-Yuriko (Research Professor) and Yuko Okumura (Research Associate). Before coming here, I was a visiting researcher on primate cognition with Dr. Lisa Parr at Yerkes National Primate Research Center, Emory University in Atlanta, GA. And before that, I did my PhD on infant numerical cognition in the Department of Cognitive and Behavioral Science at University of Tokyo with Profs. Toshikazu Hasegawa and Kazuo Hiraki.
