I was born in 1976 in Tokyo, Japan. I received my B.S. and M.S. Degrees in 1999 and 2001, respectively, where I engaged in high energy physics at Ohba-Nakazato Laboratory, and received Dr. Eng. Degree in 2006 (Ph. D. advisor: Tetsunori Kobayashi), all from Waseda University. From 2001, I have been worked at Signal Processing Research Group, Media Information Laboratory, NTT Communication Science Laboratories, Japan. From Jan. 2009 to Mar. 2009, I was a visiting scholar at Georgia Institute of Technology (Fred Juang). My research interests include Bayesian learning, speech and spoken language processing including speech recognition. |

Practical issues in machine learning
- Application of Variational Bayes (VB) to speech recognition and speech modeling (see Variational Bayes.org)
- Discriminative approaches for sequential pattern recognition
Spoken language processing (especially for speech recognition)
- Speech recognition based on Bayesian approach
- Variational Bayesian Estimation and Clustering for speech recognition (VBEC)
- Automatic determination of acoustic model topology using VBEC
- N-gram language modeling based on Bayesian approach
- Acoustic model adaptation
- Coarse/fine training of Transformation parameters
- Bayesian predictive classification based on Student-t distribution
- Incremental model adaptation based on macroscopic time evolution system
- Efficient interconnection between acoustic signal processing and speech recognition
- Combined static and dynamic variance compensation
- Discriminative approaches for speech recognition
- Discriminative training of acoustic models (minimum relative entropy discrimination, differenced maximum mutual information)
- Unified interpretation of discriminative training approaches
- WFST-based linear classifier for structured data
- Development of NTT CS Labs SOLON speech recognition system
