Hidden hearing processes unveiled

- Exploring auditory mechanisms by biological measures -
Shigeto Furukawa, Human Information Science Laboratory

Abstract

Are you sure you can tell what another person is perceiving when they are listening to something? Various biological or “body” responses may reflect the person’s perception and hidden hearing processes. Our research group aims to develop methods that “decode” the biological responses to estimate objectively how listeners perceive sound, without requiring their subjective reports. This talk will introduce our new ideas based not only on brainwave, but also on eye, ear, and finger responses.
