The fundamental goal of communication is not only to quickly, reliably, and efficiently transfer information but also to establish pleasant human interaction by helping people understand and value each other. To achieve this goal, NTT Communication Science Laboratories are pursuing new concepts and research that will significantly contribute to society by creating new telecommunication services.
We believe that basic research should consider information science and engineering points of view as well as social and cultural perspectives. Basic research can greatly benefit from communication and cooperation among researchers and research institutes in our community, in Japan, and throughout the world. As a laboratory that espouses openness, we are promoting joint basic research and a mutual exchange of researchers with other organizations.
