Research Intern
NTT Social Communication Laboratory

I am a research intern at NTT Communication Science Laboratories and I work with Cooperative Systems Research Group in Social Communication Laboratory. My research interest lies primarily in distributed systems, protocol design techniques and networking.

At NTT lab we are developing a middleware called Shine, an agent communication platform, that aims to provide an easy tool for creating a peer-to-peer communication environment in which people are linked with each other and can effortlessly exchange, share and discover information or knowledge owned by individuals or organizations.

My work involves development of one of the components for the middleware that will provide users with an ability to discover resources such as other users, services and information on the Internet. The general idea is to construct an adaptive overlay network that has a decentralized architecture. This network consists of interconnected agent platforms that allows querying through other agent platforms (similar to Gnutella). Now I am experimenting with a new technique for constructing peer-to-peer networks, "RIMnet". Unlike Gnutella RIMnet should have better scalability and a more effecient resource discovery process.
