Environment-Generated Content Project

Project Overview
By attaching tiny ubiquitous sensors to various indoor objects and furniture, we can observe their use and phenomena that occur around them. In this prodect,we attempt to store everything automatically by using ubiquitous sensors and provide the stored sensor data by converting them into content automatically. We call content generated from our environment environment-generated content (EGC). The generated content is used for a memory aid, security purposes, a medium for communication, and various other functions. Content is automatically generated from events and statistics obtained by sensor data processing. We call such content an episode. EGC provision system provides users with Browsing, Searching, Annotating, Linking and Episode making functions.

Object-Blog
An Object-Blog system is an EGC service application. We assume an indoor environment where wireless sensor nodes equipped with such sensors as accelerometers and thermometers are attached to objects. In the system, the personified objects automatically post weblog entries to a weblog about events they experiences and their utilization.

Object-Blog in our lab
The following hyperlink is to Object-Blog that is installed in our experimental environment. Personified daily objects with sensors in the environment such as cups, doors, kettles, CDs and watering cans automatically post weblog entries about their experiences to the blog. Daily objects keep a diary on the weblog behalf of users. The generated entries are used for a memory aid, a life management, and a medium for communication.
