Recently, there has hardly been a day without news or newspaper articles about “AI,” as it has permeated more of everyday life. Its applications have moved beyond business and industry to include scientific fields, a notable result being its ability to address long-standing unresolved problems in mathematics.
Meanwhile, we humans possess diverse values and emotions, and through interactions with a wide range of others, we continually strive to create new value and knowledge. As AI continues to evolve and become more closely aligned with human needs, collaborative value creation between humans and AI, as well as the discovery of new knowledge, will accelerate.
We at NTT Communication Science Laboratories are promoting research aimed at achieving “communication that reaches the heart” between people and computers, by constructing fundamental theories that probe the essence of humanity and information, and by creating innovative technologies that bring transformation to the ICT society.
Open House 2026 will be held under the theme “Unraveling the Mind and Intelligence, and Weaving an Interconnected World.” With the aspiration to explore the essence of humanity—the source from which the mind emerges—and, through interaction with the diverse forms of intelligence generated by humans and AI, to establish a new world with all of you, this event will take place at NTT WEST’s open innovation facility QUINTBRIDGE and the adjacent facility of PRISM in Kyobashi, Osaka. Through lectures, exhibits, and demonstrations by our researchers, we hope to convey our latest research findings in an accessible manner.
