Sports in the future and human potentiality

Abstract

Sports not only give us great enjoyment and excitement but also provide a window for looking into various aspects of human nature, including potentiality and limits, growth and stagnation, diversity and inferiority, talent and discipline, trust and blind belief, consciousness and unconsciousness, and body and soul. An athlete who represented Japan in three Olympic games and a scientist who is studying brain functions underlying the amazing skills of athletes will talk about the essence of human nature revealed by the athletic practice and scientific research of sports. They will also share their predictions of how science and technology will change sports and humans in the future.
